All goats  purchased will be disbudded, tattooed and registered with ADGA.   Any registration transfers will be handled within two weeks of purchase.  All animals will also have received their worming and CD & T vaccination prior to going to their new home.  Any animal sold as pet stock or being a non-breeder will have no registration papers.
All ewes or rams will be either recorded or registered with the International Katahdin Association if the buyer wants that option.

Health records are on hand for buyers review and you are welcome to have our vet check their health before leaving the farm at your own expense.

Winding River can make no health guarantee after the animals leaves our farm.  We have no control over your animal management and the health of other animals at your farm.  We also encourage you to remember that moving an animal is very stressful for them and we encourage you to make transitions, especially feeding changes very slowly and to be as free of stress as possible.
If you are purchasing a doe or ewe  that has been bred here we can make no guarantee as to the quality of the offspring or if there will be any birthing problems.  We again have no control over the care of a pregnant animal  after she leaves our farm.  Unless you are willing to pay for ultra sound or blood test by our vet, we can make no guarantee of pregnancy, only that we did witness a breeding.

If you are new to goats and sheep you need to be aware that your dog is not their friend.  Dogs are predators and goats and sheep are prey.  Even a small dog can be a threat to your animals.  Please keep things as stress free as possible.

As all our animals are well taken care of and provided with adequate shelter, we encourage you to follow the same.
Nigerian goats do not tolerate  the rain and must have a secure, dry housing and fencing that is of a proper design for housing them.  All of our sheep are also used to shelter.
If you are planning to use your goat for brush control and it will be tied up -please do not try to purchase from us.  This can be a death sentence for goats.  I reserve the right to refuse a sale if I feel the home is not going to be in the animals best interest.
I also do not sell to a home that only wants one animal.   Sheep and goats are herd animals, one is a lonely animal and two are a flock or herd.   I recommend that if you are new to animals you purchase a book on their care and do some research on them.  I can recommend several very good books on the care of sheep and or goats.  I also can recommend a good local vet clinic that  will do farm calls.  There are several goat forums on the computer that help people learn some of the things needed with their care.

All animals being picked up must be done so in a safe humane way.  I reserve the right to refuse the sale and return your money if otherwise.  Tying them up in the back of a truck will not work with our goats.  We recommend a dog carrier for them.   They also love a carrier in their housing for additional comfort.
